BEIJING (Kyodo) Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met Saturday in Beijing, during which:

• Hatoyama proposed that the two countries cooperate in exploring for gas in the East China Sea and turn it into "a sea of friendship."

• Hatoyama asked Wen for the prompt settlement of the incident involving tainted Chinese-made frozen dumplings; Wen said China is still investigating it.

• Hatoyama proposed a "food safety promotion initiative," which would involve ministerial-level talks.

• Hatoyama and Wen agreed to ensure the success of a key U.N. climate change conference in Copenhagen in December.
