OSAKA (Kyodo) A 39-year-old man was stabbed and seriously injured by an unidentified man while bicycling to work in Osaka on Tuesday morning, police said.

Kenji Nakanishi passed the man on a sidewalk in the Nakanoshima business district when their umbrellas hit. After being yelled at by the man, Nakanishi got off his bicycle and the two quarreled.

The man, who appeared to be in his early 30s, hit Nakanishi in the face and stabbed him several times with a knife before running away, according to investigators.

"I was stabbed at around 6 a.m., and I temporarily fell unconscious," Nakanishi told police who rushed to the scene.
