The husband of actress Noriko Sakai, under indictment for drug use and possession, was released on bail Wednesday from a police station in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo.
Sakai, a 38-year-old former pop idol, is facing similar charges. She was expected to be released soon from the Tokyo Wangan Police Station after the Tokyo District Court accepted her request for bail.
Yuichi Takaso, 41, was freed when he paid the ¥5 million bail via his lawyer Wednesday.
Sakai paid ¥2.5 million of her ¥5 million bail Tuesday and is expected to pay the rest soon.
The first session of Sakai's trial is scheduled for Oct. 26.
