Actress Noriko Sakai's husband was served a fresh arrest warrant Sunday on suspicion of possessing illegal stimulants while he was visiting a villa in Chiba Prefecture.

Sakai, 38, was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of possessing amphetamines. She turned herself in after disappearing for almost a week after the arrest of Yuichi Takaso, 41, on Aug. 3 in Tokyo for hiding illegal drugs in his underwear.

Police suspect Takaso, a self-described professional surfer, possessed 0.097 gram of the drug in the villa in the seaside city of Katsuura.

The police alleged that Takaso has owned up to the allegations, admitting that the stimulants discovered in the villa were his.

He was a regular visitor to the villa, and Sakai, a popular singer before she became an actress, is also suspected of frequenting the house, the police said.

Prosecutors indicted Takaso on Friday on charges of violating the stimulants control law. According to the indictment, Takaso inhaled a small amount of stimulants in a public lavatory at a park in Minato Ward around Aug. 2 and was in possession of some 0.817 gram of stimulants in his car while parked on a street in Shibuya Ward on Aug. 3.
