The Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office on Friday indicted the husband of popular actress Noriko Sakai for possessing and using drugs in violation of the stimulants control law.

Yuichi Takaso, 41, stands accused of inhaling stimulants in a public bathroom at a park in Minato Ward, Tokyo, on Aug. 2. The prosecutors also alleged he was found in possession of 0.817 gram of stimulants in his car in Shibuya Ward on Aug. 3.

Earlier in the day, the Metropolitan Police Department said they will serve Takaso with a fresh arrest warrant on suspicion of possessing stimulants in a weekend home in Chiba Prefecture.

A raid on the house in Katsuura, where Takaso frequently stays, turned up a small amount of stimulants and inhaling paraphernalia.

Takaso could be served the warrant Friday, sources said. The police are investigating whether Sakai, 38, was involved as well.

Sakai was arrested on suspicion of possessing stimulants earlier this month. She turned herself in after disappearing for almost a week following Takaso's Aug. 3 arrest. He was found concealing stimulants in his underwear.

In a separate case, actor and pop singer Manabu Oshio now admits using the synthetic drug MDMA, police sources said Friday.

"I took the tablets knowing they were illegal," Oshio reportedly told investigators.

Oshio, 31, was arrested Aug. 3 after he tested positive for the drug, popularly known as Ecstasy, in a urine test police conducted in connection with their investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found in a luxury apartment in Tokyo's Roppongi Hills complex the previous day.

Earlier, Oshio denied the allegations, telling investigators he took the tablets at the woman's urging but did not know they were illegal.
