The farm ministry ordered Nippon Meat Packers Inc. and Nippon Flour Mills Co. on Friday to correct false labeling of fish sausages and frozen food products, a practice violating the Japan Agricultural Standards Law.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said Nippon Meat Packers sold about 16 tons of fish sausage products from January to June 16 with labels saying high-end crabs were used as an ingredient, though the food maker actually used cheaper crabs.

Nippon Flour Mills, in a similar disguise, sold about 2,000 tons of frozen food products using cheap crab by labeling them as containing high-end crab meat from February 2006 to June 16 this year.
