The Diet enacted a legal revision Wednesday that will change the Defense Ministry's policymaking structure as part of administrative reform stemming from a string of scandals involving the ministry and the Self-Defense Forces.
The revised Defense Ministry establishment law will create a post of adviser for the defense minister. Not only Defense Ministry officials but also people outside the government can be tapped as such advisers.
