FUKUOKA (Kyodo) A man sentenced to 20 years in prison for causing the deaths of three children in a 2006 hit-and-run while driving under the influence of alcohol has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court, his lawyer said Monday.
The Fukuoka High Court on Friday convicted Futoshi Imabayashi, 24, of dangerous driving, which is substantially more serious than the charge of professional negligence resulting in death and injury applied by the Fukuoka District Court in January 2008, and overturned a 7 1/2-year sentence by the lower court.
