OSAKA (Kyodo) Burglars backed a truck into a jewelry shop in Osaka early Friday and made off with merchandise worth ¥10 million, the Minami branch of the Osaka Prefectural Police said.

An eyewitness told police that three people in masks entered Jewelry Aria Osaka in Chuo Ward after crashing the truck into the shop's shutters around 5:20 a.m.

Police found the truck abandoned on a street in neighboring Naniwa Ward, about 750 meters away. It was not clear if the vehicle had been stolen.

"I'm so shocked. My store is destroyed and I don't know when we can reopen for business," said the 45-year-old shop owner, who said most of the stolen items were on display near the shop's entrance.

The shop is located near Namba Station on the Midosuji subway line.
