The Tokyo Summary Court issued a summary order in March for Hiromoto Okubo, former batting coach of the Seibu Lions, to pay a fine of ¥200,000 for beating a woman and slightly wounding her last year, according to sources.

Okubo, 42, denied last November that the act took place but is believed to have owned up to the allegation during questioning by prosecutors.

He slightly injured the woman in her 30s in Tokyo last August, the indictment said.

Okubo was removed from his coaching post in December after the incident came to light and is now working in another capacity for the professional baseball team.
