Tama Tech, an amusement park with motor vehicle attractions in the Tokyo suburb of Hino, will close at the end of September, its operator said Saturday.

Mobilityland Corp., a subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., said the decision was made in light of the park's declining attendance, but observers said Honda's deteriorating earnings may also have been a factor.

Attendance at the park, which opened in 1961, peaked at more than 1 million visitors in fiscal 2002. It dropped to 620,000 in fiscal 2007.
