OSAKA (Kyodo) Panasonic Corp. will probably delay its plan to turn Sanyo Electric Co. into a subsidiary until summer because the U.S. will need time to make sure their lithium-ion battery businesses don’t violate antitrust laws, sources said Thursday.
Panasonic initially planned to complete its tender offer for Sanyo shares by the end of March to create Japan’s largest electrical machinery maker in terms of sales.
