A 34-year-old woman who allegedly broke into her neighbor's apartment to recharge her cell phone was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of cutting the occupant with a knife, police said.

Upon returning to her apartment around 3 a.m. Saturday in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, the victim found the door unlocked and someone else's mobile phone in her charger.

Michiko Hiroya later came by and told her that she "borrowed the battery charger because she had financial difficulties."

When the victim called the police, Hiroya cut her hand with a kitchen knife.

The victim, who is in her 20s, was slightly wounded.

Hiroya allegedly made an unauthorized copy of her neighbor's key about a year ago after workers at a construction company that was refurbishing the room left it in the mailbox.
