Two female junior high school students in Tokyo have been arrested for allegedly assaulting other girls, police said Wednesday.

The two, aged 14 and 15, were quoted as saying they were "frustrated with others who seemed to be rich and happy" and they have an "unhappy" family environment.

Three other girls are believed to have also been involved in the attacks. They targeted girls who wore brand-name clothes or private school uniforms, according to the police.

They allegedly injured a 12-year-old girl at an elementary school in November, and attacked and injured a 13-year-old girl in a restroom in December, both in Hachioji.
