NAGOYA (Kyodo) Central Japan Railway Co. (JR Tokai) is planning to build the tallest skyscraper in the Nagoya area and the third tallest in Japan.
Construction of the roughly 260-meter building will start in fiscal 2011 after the company’s Nagoya Terminal Building in front of JR Nagoya Station is demolished. When it opens for business by the end of fiscal 2017, it will overtake the current tallest building in central Japan — the 247-meter high Midland Square also in front of JR Nagoya Station.
