Prime Minister Taro Aso on Friday blamed the spreading financial and credit crisis on U.S. firms that failed to apply "risk management."
"I believe the current U.S. financial crisis occurred because financial institutions were unable to apply risk management to an expanding securities business appropriately," Aso told lawmakers in Tokyo. The failure prevented "the ability of financial markets to function," he said.
