Mazda Motor Corp. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. will raise prices on light commercial vehicles in Japan by as much as 3 percent due to higher materials costs.

Mazda will raise prices between 2.8 percent and 3 percent starting Oct. 1, the Hiroshima-based carmaker said in a statement Friday. The van and truck models include the Bongo, Titan Dash and Familia. Mitsubishi Motors will also raise prices by 2.9 percent on Delica truck and van models built by Mazda.

Tokyo-based MMC will not raise prices on its Lancer cargo van as it nears the end of its model cycle, spokesman Tetsuji Inoue said.

Mitsubishi Motors will not raise prices on its mini truck models as it aims to cut costs, Inoue said. Mini trucks are powered by engines no larger than 0.66 liters.
