Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. said Monday it will invest ¥5 billion to raise production capacity by 20 percent to meet demand for ships.
The company will build a factory at its existing facility in Okayama Prefecture, Masahiro Takaoka, a spokesman for the company, said. The new factory, which will start operations next June, will enable the company to increase engine capacity to 6 million horsepower a year, up from 5 million now.
