A women's human rights organization is accepting nominations for the annual Yayori Award, which recognizes female activists, journalists or artists in Asia working to create a world devoid of war and gender discrimination.

The 500,000 yen award, named after late journalist Yayori Matsui, was established in 2005 and is given to one person or group each year.

The first two went to a Nepalese photojournalist in 2005 and a South Korean peace activist in 2006 to highlight their grassroots activities with socially marginalized people.
