Conductor Seiji Ozawa, music director of Vienna's State Opera, returned Sunday to the podium with Richard Wagner's "Flying Dutchman."

Ozawa was hospitalized in January 2006 and canceled his concert commitments in the Austrian capital.

The 71-year-old Ozawa was applauded loudly when he returned to the stage with performers at the end of the production, which lasted more than two hours without intermission.
