A 52-year-old woman and her 18-year-old daughter were found stabbed to death at their home Tuesday morning in Sapporo and police are looking for the woman's 49-year-old husband, officials said.

According to local police, a relative of the family who visited the house around 7:40 a.m. found the woman dead in her bedroom, bleeding from her chest. Investigators who rushed to the house later found the daughter also dead in the bath, the officials said.

The names of the victims are being withheld. The house is located in a residential area about 1 km from JR Teine Station.

Both victims had stab wounds in their chest, and police found a bloodied kitchen knife -- apparently the murder weapon -- on the first floor of the house, the officials said. There were no signs of burglary.

The husband has recently been absent from his company, and his car is missing from the house.

The woman had an appointment to visit a local hospital Monday. When she did not show up, the hospital contacted her relative, who visited the house Tuesday and found the body, police said.
