Asahi Glass Co. said Thursday it will build its second automotive glass factory in China in Foshan in the southern province of Guangdong to meet growing demand.
Construction of the plant to make laminated and tempered glass for windshields and door windows will start in early 2007, with an estimated investment of 6.5 billion yen, the company said.
Mass production will begin in the first quarter of 2008, the company said, adding it expects combined automobile output in China to grow at an annual rate of 8 percent and top 9 million vehicles in 2010.
