A 29-year-old woman was arrested Saturday on suspicion of attempting to kill her 2-year-old son by shoving him into a kitchen door, causing a severe head injury that left him unconscious, the police said.

The suspect, Mika Horie, allegedly attacked her eldest son, Haruhi, in her apartment in Ikuno Ward, Osaka.

The boy was taken to a hospital, where he was still unconscious as of Saturday night.

Horie allegedly told police she became furious because the boy did not stop crying.

Horie's boyfriend, 30, who was in a different room at the time, called in the emergency after hearing a loud noise, the police said.

They are also investigating whether Horie has been abusing the son because his body was covered with bruises.
