A high school teacher was among three people arrested Wednesday on suspicion of offering sexual services in a area of Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, where such businesses are banned.

Police said they arrested Kyoichi Tayadate, 51, who has been teaching social science, political science and economics at a private high school in the city since 1986, and two 45-year-old Chinese nationals, Zhang Liping and Tian Yuan.

Tayadate and Zhang, who were running the massage parlor together, are suspected of having employee Tian provide sexual services to a male client Tuesday night and Wednesday morning at their establishment, in a zone where outfits providing sexual services are not allowed to set up shop.

"He had no record of being absent without permission," the principal at Tayadate's school said. "I cannot make any comment now because I would like to know what exactly happened."

Providing sexual services in an unauthorized area is a violation of the Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Business.
