A 70-year-old man in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of strangling his wife at their home, police said.
The suspect, identified as Shigeyoshi Sentaku, allegedly strangled his 70-year-old wife, Chiyono, with the cord of an electric water pot Saturday night.
He turned himself in to police early Sunday and was quoted as saying he had grown exhausted nursing his wife.
