SEOUL (Kyodo) S-LCD Corp., a joint venture between Japan's Sony Corp. and South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co., said Wednesday it will invest 222 billion won, or 28 billion yen, to expand its production capacity for liquid crystal display panels by a bigger margin than earlier announced.

S-LCD, based in Tangjeong, South Korea, announced a plan last November to invest 100 billion won to raise its monthly production capacity for 32-inch panels from the present 720,000 to 900,000 panels by July.
