CHIBA (Kyodo) The wife of disgraced architect Hidetsugu Aneha died Tuesday after apparently jumping off the roof of a condominium high-rise in Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture, police said.
Police suspect the 49-year-old victim, who was not further identified, jumped off the top floor of the seven-story building, which stands about 150 meters from her home.
A 44-year-old man found her alive around 5:50 a.m. inside his car in the complex's parking lot. It appeared she had crashed through the sun roof. The man notified the building manager, who called police.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
Japan has been rocked by a series of revelations since November that building earthquake-resistance data had been fabricated, many of them linked to the 48-year-old architect.
