VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Kyodo) Crown Prince Naruhito greeted Japanese nationals Monday living in Canada at the hotel here where he was staying, wishing them well.

The Crown Prince later visited the public market on Granville Island, a redeveloped industrial district in the city. While there, he visited merchants selling produce, children's clothing and wine.

At Stanley Park, Vancouver's oldest park, known for its virgin forest and panoramic view of surrounding mountains, the Crown Prince talked with local residents.

He arrived in Vancouver on Sunday night on the final leg of his North American trip, marking his first visit to Canada.

He left Monday afternoon aboard a government plane and arrived in Japan on Tuesday evening.
