Fugitive former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori will return to his home country from Japan, where he has been in exile since abandoning his office in November 2000, by the end of this year to run for president again next year, according to media reports Tuesday.

According to Peruvian media reports, Fujimori's lawyers in Lima argued that judicial authorities have indicted him without evidence and that Fujimori has contracted them to contest the charges against him.

Fujimori has been indicted on more than 20 counts, including involvement in the military's killing of civilians, and corruption. He has denied all the allegations.
