Justsystem Corp. filed an appeal Tuesday with the Tokyo High Court, seeking to repeal an order to stop producing and selling its Ichitaro word-processing and Hanako graphics software on grounds that they have a function that infringes on a Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. patent.
Justsystem President Kazunori Ukigawa claimed in a press release that his company is not violating any Matsushita patent and criticized the Tokyo District Court's Feb. 1 ruling, saying it "does not contribute to development of the industry."
The Tokushima-based software company said it will continue to sell Ichitaro and Hanako software and launch a new product, Ichitaro2005, on Thursday without fixing the function that was determined by the court to have infringed on the Matsushita patent.
