NEW YORK (Kyodo) Eastman Kodak Co. overtook Sony Corp. in digital camera shipments in the United States in 2004, research firm International Digital Corp. said Wednesday.
Kodak boosted digital camera shipments 66.0 percent from the previous year to 4.88 million units, expanding its U.S. market share 4.0 percentage points to 21.9 percent, IDC said.
Sony, which had long been the front runner, increased shipments 21.5 percent to 4.33 million units, but its market share fell 2.3 points to 19.4 percent, it said.
