An additional 2 million yen in cash was found Sunday in an irrigation ditch in Hasuda, Saitama Prefecture, close to the site where about 15 million yen in cash was found the day before, police said.
A 72-year-old man found about 200 10,000 yen bills stuck in a washing machine dumped in the ditch about 100 meters downstream from where the 15 million yen was found, according to the police.
The man was taking a walk when he found the bills and informed police. The bills, including both old and redesigned versions, are authentic and in good condition, police said.
The area where the 2 million yen was found was searched by police Saturday after the first discovery but nothing was found at that time, they said.
