MAEBASHI, Gunma Pref. (Kyodo) Gunma Gov. Hiroyuki Kodera announced a decision Wednesday to close a struggling racetrack in Takasaki late this month, rejecting Internet service provider Livedoor Co.’s proposal to help rebuild it.

The Livedoor plan did not specify projected costs and revenue or how it would make the racetrack profitable, the governor said.

Livedoor President Takafumi Horie offered to sell betting tickets for the racetrack via the Internet at a meeting with the governor on Nov. 10 and submitted the plan last Friday.
