A 22-year-old fan of instant noodles was served a fresh warrant Monday on suspicion of arson after his handprints were found on a charred cup of noodles found at the scene of a fire, local police said.

The suspect was identified as Kunimitsu Honda of Ikeda, Hokkaido.

The police said Honda allegedly set fire to a shed owned by a 46-year-old construction company president in the predawn hours of June 13, gutting the roughly 6-sq.-meter structure.

Honda was arrested last month for stealing 36 cups of instant noodles from a warehouse in June. A charred cup of the same type of noodles was found at the scene of the fire, and after conducting a check, police discovered that prints on the cup matched Honda's.
