A landslide Monday near a farm for the mentally disabled temporarily buried three people, police said.

Investigators and rescue officials said the landslide occurred in Fukushima city at around 11:30 a.m. on the southern slope where the Farm Matsukawa welfare facility is located.

Factory manager Takako Yasuda and two male workers were dug out by rescuers. Yasuda was knocked unconscious but later recovered. The two other men sustained minor injuries, police said.

Yasuda and seven workers were digging and transporting soil to be used at the farm, where some 15 people grow vegetables and raise animals.

They were working about 10 meters from the top of the slope.
