Two freighters -- the Panamanian-registered Courageous Ace and the Chinese-flagged Fuyuanyu-F38 -- collided early Monday off Ehime Prefecture, local coast guard officials said.
No one was injured in the accident, and no oil leaked from either ship, the officials said.
The coast guard is questioning crew members from both ships on suspicion of professional negligence resulting in obstruction of sea traffic.
