Police and the coast guard on Thursday found four bodies and a sunken yacht in Lake Biwa that they believe are from among the seven people who went missing when their vessel capsized and sank earlier in the week.

The authorities found the sunken yacht about 1.2 km from shore. The two bodies, one of them a child's, were found nearby.

They also discovered the body of an infant, believed to be 2-year-old Takumi Yonezawa, floating on the surface about 5 km from the east shore of the lake. The fourth body was found later in the day.

Using an underwater camera, the search party spotted the yacht on the lake bottom, and confirmed it was the missing Falcon. The party had been using the camera to search the lake bottom since Wednesday.

The overcrowded 6.4-meter yacht, owned by Yoshitada Kawashima and certified to carry 10 people, capsized with 12 people, including five children, on board at around 5 p.m. Monday, police said. It was about 2 km from shore.
