The body of the last person still missing following devastating mudslides in Kyushu last weekend was found Saturday in mud near a house in Minamata, Kumamoto Prefecture, bringing the death toll to 22.

The body of Yasuki Yoshigai, 63, was identified by his wife, local authorities said, adding that they had concluded their search and rescue operations with the recovery of Yoshigai's body.

Minamata was the hardest-hit by the mudslides that struck Kumamoto, Nagasaki and Kagoshima prefectures after torrential rain.
