The rainy season apparently ended in the Okinawa region on Saturday, two days earlier than average for the third straight year, the local weather station of the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

Okinawa is expected to experience fair weather over the next week thanks to a Pacific high-pressure area as the rain front has moved north, close to Honshu.

Since the rainy period started on May 14, Naha has recorded 353 mm of rain, close to the average for the season.

Temperatures had risen as high as 30.1 C in Naha as of 10 a.m. Saturday.
