NAGOYA – Toyota Motor Corp. is considering scrapping seniority-based annual wage increases for factory staff following the introduction of a similar measure for office personnel and engineers, Toyota officials said Tuesday.
The move is designed to introduce a merit-based wage system throughout the company. Seniority-based wages account for roughly 20 percent of basic wages for plant staff.
