Authorities are trying to determine whether the body of a man found Friday in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, is that of a person witnesses said was abducted in the city earlier in the week, police said Saturday.

The body of 47-year-old Noboru Yasuda was found in a hilly area of the city on Friday. Police believe he had been stabbed to death at another location and that his body was dragged to the site.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, several witnesses alerted a local police station that a man, estimated to be in his 20s to 40s, was fighting with other men on a street near the Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station of the Hankyu railway, the police said.

Witnesses said the man was driven away after being pushed into the trunk of a passenger car.
