The number of fatalities tied to a Legionnaires' disease outbreak at a spa in Miyazaki Prefecture reached seven on Sunday, as a woman in her 60s succumbed to the disease, prefectural authorities said.

The Nobeoka, Miyazaki Prefecture, resident visited the Hyuga Sun-Park Onsen in Hyuga in the prefecture on July 6. After falling ill the following day, she remained in very serious condition.

The spa opened to the public on July 1 but was shut down after reports linked it to the disease outbreak. The first victim died Aug. 8.

Officials said 32 individuals have been confirmed as having contracted the disease, while 263 people are suspected of having been infected.
