Two men died in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, early Sunday after their car crashed into an electric utility pole, police said.

The two, from Indonesia, were identified as Febrimansyah Lubis, 31, and Kalvenalen Woran, 26. Lubis was an agricultural worker living in the village of Taiyo, Ibaraki Prefecture, and Woran was a seafood-processing plant worker living in the town of Oarai in the prefecture.

The car crashed into a pole on a sidewalk in Oarai around 5:20 a.m. Police believe Lubis was at the wheel and may have been speeding at the time of the crash.
