A 27-year-old man was found drowned in the Nagara River early Sunday. He went missing while fishing in the river with friends Saturday night, local police said.

According to investigations, the body of company employee Hiromitsu Takagi was found at around 5:30 a.m. floating about 300 meters downstream from a spot in the river in the town of Yamato where he disappeared.

Takagi and five friends had waded into the river around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night to fish. He went missing about an hour later, police said.

Police said his friends had searched the area on their own for nearly two hours but had no luck, so they notified police.
