The Tokyo District Court set bail of 20 million yen Monday for Emiko Akagi, whose husband is wanted in connection with the 1970 hijacking of a Japan Airlines plane to North Korea by the Red Army Faction.

Akagi, 46, the wife of Shiro Akagi, 54, was arrested in September upon her arrival in Japan from North Korea on suspicion of violating the Passport Law. She allegedly defied a Foreign Ministry order to hand over her passport in 1988.

Prosecutors lodged their protest over the bail decision.

Nine Red Army Faction members were involved in the March 1970 hijacking of the JAL jetliner as it flew from Tokyo to Fukuoka. The plane was forced to fly to Pyongyang, where the skyjackers remained.
