Members of the Ritz Club in the Ritz Paris hotel will soon have the opportunity to enjoy French cuisine prepared by a Japanese chef from Nagoya.

"It is a great honor for us to have Mr. (Toshinori) Aoki, and I believe our club members are also looking forward to it," said Michel Roth, executive chef of the Ritz Paris, in reference to Aoki's five-day visit in September.

It is almost unheard of for the posh hotel to invite a Japanese chef to cook at its restaurant.

A native of Nagoya, Aoki owns a French restaurant called Vingt-Sept in his hometown, where he has attracted a following of both domestic and overseas fans.

According to Aoki, people in Nagoya are quite picky about the balance between the taste and price of their food.

"If a chef succeeds in Nagoya, he can succeed anywhere," he said.

Aoki plans to present dishes with a Japanese touch to his French customers.

The Ritz Club is a membership-only establishment.
