Japan Airlines Co. and Japan Air System Co. said Monday they will set up a joint sales and marketing firm under a group holding company to be created in October.
The airlines are to be integrated under a holding company in October but will operate as separate entities until being reorganized into domestic and international units under the holding company before 2004, officials for the carriers said.
The merger will create the nation's largest airline.
