President George W. Bush will visit Japan, South Korea and China on Feb. 17-22, making up for a trip he canceled last October in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the White House announced Friday.

Bush will depart Washington on Feb. 16, arrive in Japan on Feb. 17, and then spend Feb. 18-19 in Tokyo, Feb. 19-20 in Seoul and Feb. 21-22 in Beijing, White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said in a statement.

"During his visit to these three countries, the president will discuss our common struggle against terrorism, economic recovery, the strengthening of our alliances in the region and other areas of mutual interest," Fleischer said.

Bush's visit will mark his first trip to Japan and South Korea since he took office in January last year.
