The Japanese are the least sexually active people on the planet, according to a global survey on sexual attitudes and behavior.

The study, which polled 18,500 people aged 16 to 55 in 28 countries and territories, found Japanese make love only 36 times a year, while people across the world on average have sex 97 times a year, up from 96 last year.

The survey, the sixth of its kind, was conducted in May by SSL International PLC, the manufacturer of Durex brand condoms. The results were released by SSL Healthcare Hong Kong Ltd. ahead of World AIDS Day on Saturday.

People in Hong Kong, who have sex 63 times a year, are the second least sexually active after the Japanese, according to the survey.
