Violinist Midori Goto, once considered a child prodigy, has won the Avery Fisher Prize, one of the most prestigious awards for solo performers, a U.S. cultural center said Monday.
The veteran violinist turns 30 on Thursday and will join the ranks of other recipients of the prize, including cellist Yo-Yo Ma, according to the Lincoln Center.
Midori was born in Osaka Prefecture.
